What a Friend We Have in Jesus

Have you ever had a day or life season when you feel weighed down?

That one more stressor or bad news would just tip the scale and be too heavy a load? During that time, has the Lord ever given you tailored encouragement through a song, a sunset, Christian counsel, or the Holy Spirit that you can lay that yoke at the feet of Jesus? God’s promises refresh you; suddenly you remember that the burdens of earth are temporary and fleeting.

As you reflect on that indescribable peace, imagine carrying the weight of the world without having never accepted that reassurance. Never hearing of or taking to heart God’s promises. For a woman with no peace, that miniscule pregnancy test could make her laden with fear.

Anguish is common among women who find herself facing unplanned pregnancy. The burden seems so massive that she is unable to see the beauty, God’s purpose in her life and the life of her developing child. Or, perhaps, no one has ever told her of the beauty and promise of life in the first place.

Perhaps in those consultant rooms, you and I could be the ones to sow life-giving words in her weary heart. We can tell her of God who treasures her, cares about her troubles, and carries her burdens. Perhaps when she holds her tiny child for the first time, she can start to grasp that she is in God’s hands.

Whatever your day or life season looks like, remember that God uses you every single day to carry the burdens for single mothers.

What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
