When friends Denise Thomssen and Jolene Bruce discovered the Austin marathon they had been training for was cancelled, God impressed on their hearts to come up with a creative way to pursue their goals while championing pro-life causes.
The Chapel at Caliber Oak began as a gift to one another for husband and wife owners Denise and Rick Thomssen. The pair fell in love with sharing hospitality, and now host weddings, fund raisers, and social engagements.
Along with her husband, Rick, the team would open up their event venue, Chapel at Caliber Oak, to host a "Walk for Life" fund raising event to benefit HOPE PC. Denise and Jolene would complete the marathon distance at their 45-acre grounds, ending at the steps of their chapel to the delight of all the guests (who made a donation to take part in the event.)
Nestled in a wooded grove in the heart of Salado, it was the perfect backdrop for their first walk, which raised over $4,200! The monies will go directly to the ministry of HOPE, providing life-affirming services to women facing unplanned pregnancy.
God is the Father of Creativity. This successful event is a great reminder that God can utilize your talents and spiritual gifts to give Him the glory!
We are so thankful to Rick, Denise, Jolene, and the guests who gave so generously to this mission. Thank you!
